Messi started playing for Barcelona at a young age and quickly made a name for himself. He became the youngest player to score a league goal and was part of a team that won both La Liga and Champions League. By the next season, he was the first-choice striker, scoring many goals. Over the years, Messi has continued to improve and break records. In 2012, he broke the world record for most goals scored in a calendar year, with a total of 91 goals.

At the beginning of 2013, Messi had scored 292 goals in club football and 31 goals in international football. He was offered a deal worth €20 million per year to play for a Russian team, which he turned down because he was uncertain about playing in major European championships and relocating to Russia. Instead, he signed a contract with Barcelona until 2018. Messi showed his dedication to Barcelona when he refused to move to the English Premier League.

On August 10, 2021, Messi joined the French club Paris Saint-Germain. He made his debut with the club on August 29.  In June 2023, Messi announced that he would join Inter Miami after PSG departure.
